I love a Chicago wedding venue with rich history. The Palmer House Hilton is over 150 years old. It was actually a wedding gift to Potter and Bertha Palmer circa 1870. Bertha was a french socialite who decorated the hotel with paintings from her famous friends like Claude Monet. From day one this massive hotel was made for luxury and extravagance. Every corner has elevators and chandeliers dripping in crystals and gold. There are truly no words to describe it. Sadly only 13 days after its grand opening it was destroyed by The Great Chicago Fire. Determined to be a success it was completely rebuilt and ever since its historic features have been preserved as the main attraction. Jump to 2021 and we land on the wedding of Erin & Bobby. This December wedding ceremony was held in the unique Red Lacquer Room ( one of many of their luxury ballrooms ) which is one of THE only wedding ballrooms in Chicago with all red walls and features. The reception was held in The Grand Ballroom which as you can see it was fit for royalty. This was the perfect venue for a holiday wedding as the Palmer House decorates its lobbies with classy decor with multiple Christmas tree displays around every corner. Erin & Bobby showcased their exquisite taste with a classic black tie event using seasonal evergreen accents in red rose arrangements with a modern approach. One thing I love about huge impressive venues is the ability to get draw dropping angles shown in the photos taken at very high vantage points. Make sure to check out the angles we were able to get during the first dance from the balcony. Next time you stay downtown Chicago check out this venue. You can stay there as a guest and check out all its history, or just stop by the lobby bar for a drink.
