I always like a challenge, and Becka & Taylor’s day was definitely that. The weather had a mind of its own and additionally the weatherman had a separate idea of what the weather was going to be. All we could do was live it in person and fly by the seat of our pants. I always tell couple’s that experience in a wedding photographer is very important and on days like this I used all my experience to pull off some pretty cool shots no matter what weather we had. When I arrived it was only forecasted to rain for a couple hours mid- morning. By noon 2 hours had changed to 5 and by 2 pm there was only going to be a 20 min break in what was then severe storms all day long. I darted from one guest umbrella to the next for the ceremony as the officiant sped things along for a record breaking 15 min celebration. Becka and Taylor were troopers and kept smiles on their faces and kept the day of celebrating on a positive beat. If rain is truly lucky on your wedding day, these two will have an entire lifetime of good fortune. This charming Wisconsin farmhouse barn wedding located at Sugarland Weddings in Arena, Wisconsin was one of the most impressive venue’s I have ever shot at. The staff was great, the food was great and it ran like a well oiled machine. The ceremony took place under a giant old oak tree. The ladies got ready and stayed the weekend in the old farmhouse on the grounds. The reception took place in a massive barn that is dripping with charm with every beam of wood adding to the character of the architecture. Becka’s choices in flowers, dresses and decor was simply romantic and chic. As the night came to a close the rain let up to a sprinkle and we popped outside for some pretty stunning night shots on the patio outside of the barn that was covered in string lights. All of the details of Sugarland Weddings made for the perfect rustic wedding and provided endless photographic opportunity. I would LOVE to get back and photograph another wedding there as I had a million ideas to use.
