Wardrobe Tips for the Perfect Engagement Session Look
This engagement session is one of my all-time favorites! Natalie and Tyler’s session took place at North Avenue Beach and The Chicago Riverwalk. You might look at this engagement session and think, ” how do they look like a couple from a magazine !?! ” While they are an adorable couple, it takes a lot of thought and planning to curate a gorgeous engagement session. Let’s talk about one reason it looks so good. In this blog we are going to cover wardrobe suggestions for your engagement session.
The wardrobe.
Tyler & Natalie did a great job on their own choosing their looks. However, many couples ask my advice on what looks best when pairing their outfits. I always suggest going simple and neutral. You will notice they had two looks.
The first look, Tyler wore white shirt with a very subtle stripe and Natalie wore a simple black dress.
The second look, included Natalie in a floral print dress and Tyler in a solid blue shirt.
My #1 tip is never wear two patterns in one look. For example if one person wears stripes then the other person should not also wear a pattern like floral. If there is going to be a pattern, it can only be worn by one person. If you go all solids, it will always look timeless and chic. Don’t forget the shoes. Always opt for the nicer dress shoe. Tennis shoes bring a certain level of casual to a look and unless you are in a very casual wardrobe with a certain location vibe, its always best to dress up.
Which brings me to my next suggestion. Your look should reflect the location you are in. Let’s say for your engagement shoot you want to stop by the lounge where you met each other for a couple photos. For this look you won’t want to go with a chic cocktail attire, you want to level it up so you look like you belong and fit into your atmosphere. When in doubt always dress it up.
