1) From a planner’s perspective, what are some benefits of hiring a wedding content creator?
From our perspective, hiring a wedding content creator is a smart way to capture the magic of your day in real-time—unedited, unfiltered, and beautifully behind-the-scenes. While your photographer and videographer focus on the polished, curated imagery, a content creator can document the candid moments, emotional reactions, and quick-turn snippets that reflect the energy of a celebration.
Wedicity Wedding Planner Kristina recently got married and hired a content creator for her big day. Her perspective is that you are so caught up in the day that you miss some of the other smaller moments, and this is a way to capture those moments when you are not able to everywhere at once! After seeing, first-hand, the benefits of a content creator, she will highly encourage all couples to add this service to their wedding weekend!
A content creator also means sneak peeks within 24 hours (or less), personalized storytelling, and social media-ready content you can share while you’re still on cloud nine.
2) Do you think hiring a wedding content creator is for every couple?
Not necessarily—and that’s okay. Couples who value immediacy, storytelling, and social connection tend to benefit most from a content creator. If you want to relive the day from multiple perspectives, share it with guests who couldn’t attend, or simply have fun, “in-the-moment” footage to hold you over while you wait for your formal gallery, then yes—it’s a great fit. But for couples who prefer a more private or analog experience, it may not be essential.
3) What questions would you advise your couples to ask when they are interviewing a wedding content creator?
We recommend asking the following questions:
How many hours of coverage are you on-site for?
(8-10 hours is pretty standard for a full day)
What’s your content turnaround time?
(Usually raw files are dropped within 24 hours, 1 sneak-peak reel is dropped within 36 hours and all other reels are edited and dropped within a week to 2 weeks pending how many edited reels you purchased)
How do you collaborate with our planner and media team on the day of?
(It is super important that they are part of the TEAM on day of! We recommend that the photo, video and content team all meet on the call with the planner to discuss at least a week or two before the wedding)
Do you shoot on a phone, camera, or a mix of both?
(Most will shoot on a phone and in vertical format – which is standard)
Can we see a full gallery or real example from a past wedding?
(make sure you like their capture AND editing style!!)
How do you capture the vibe and voice of each couple uniquely?
Do you offer raw footage or just edited content?
(realistically, raw content will never be touched and made into a reel. Its good to have for the social-savvy couple but trust us, you want at least 1-3 edited reels!)
Will you blend in, or do you direct and stage shots?
(This affects how much they “interact” with the day.)
What do you wear on wedding day?
(Dressed in black like a staff person or blend in with guest and dressed to the dress code?)
4) What are the top 3 skills you look for in a good wedding content creator?
Style + Angles: What angles are they getting, what are they capturing and how is it captured?
Creative Storytelling: The ability to turn raw footage into compelling narratives that reflect the couple’s unique energy.
Fast Editing: Quick turnaround is essential, but not at the cost of quality. We’re looking for someone who delivers polished content quickly and consistently.
5) Why is hiring a wedding content creator, especially in Chicago, an asset to a wedding day?
Chicago is fast-paced, architecturally stunning, and full of spontaneous moments. A content creator can help couples seize those unscripted city vibes—like a moment on the Riverwalk, a kiss in a vintage cab, or a dance party on the rooftop—while the rest of the team is focused on timeline and logistics. It’s a way to capture the soul of the city and the soul of the couple in real time. In a city this dynamic, having a content creator can make your memories feel even more alive.
